Common apricot: we grow an unusually tasty harvest of fruits
Content:
The most favorable places for planting this plant are in the southern directions from Moscow. Also, the area where apricots are grown must be protected from cold northerly winds. Lowlands, where cool air collects, are not suitable for planting. Apricot also has the name common apricot, it is a tree belonging to the genus plum of the pink family. Also, apricot is also called yellow-leaf, morel, dried apricots, perches and apricots.
Common apricot description
One of the special varieties is the Siberian apricot, which grows wild in the mountains in Dauria. He tolerates severe frosts, can withstand temperatures up to minus forty-five degrees, but he does not tolerate the thaw well. The fruits are presented in the form of drupe cracking along the seam, the diameter of which is from two to two and a half centimeters, usually gray-yellow in color, sour-tart to the taste, practically not used for food.
Apricot is a deciduous tree, usually of medium height and crown circumference. The leaves are presented in the form of a circle or an egg, the top is slightly drawn back, they are also finely toothed. The flowers begin to bloom before the leaves appear, they are white or pink in color.
The fruits are presented in the form of a single drupe, yellow-red in color, resembling a circle or ellipse in shape. The bone has dense walls and is smooth to the touch. The apricot tree is usually grown in warm and temperate climates.
Apricot fruits are eaten fresh and dried. People who have diabetes should limit the consumption of these fruits, as they contain a lot of sugar.
From these fruits, you can prepare apricot vodka and alcoholic beverage. Apricot juice is first fermented and then distilled.
Apricot tree planting rules
When planting apricots, choose branched seedlings of annual plants. Bushes in which branches come from adjacent buds and have sharp angles of discharge are not suitable for planting. If you plant such seedlings, then from the severity of the fruit, such branches will break, and the tree will die.
One must not make a mistake when choosing a planting material. Saplings of a cultivar that are grafted differ from seedlings. The seedlings do not have thorns, but instead of them there are stumps. Also, seedlings form only single buds, and on 1-year-old branches there are already double or even triple buds.
Unlike cultivated seedlings in annuals, the branches and trunk are less developed. Seedlings brought from southern countries do not tolerate winter well. And under our conditions, they can quickly freeze and the taste of the fruit will already be very low.
The best results can be obtained by planting unbranched annuals. Before planting them, you need to dip the roots in a solution of earthen talkers. When planting, the plant must be placed in the hole so that the root neck is about three or four millimeters below the edge of the hole. Further, the roots must be covered with a previously prepared fertile mixture. When you fall asleep, shake the plant a little, and then trample the soil with your foot, while holding the bush at the right distance.
The hole must be covered with earth to the brim and a roller made of earth along the edges of the hole must be made in order to make it more convenient to water the plant in the future. This plant needs to be watered even if the soil is moist.Typically, twenty or thirty liters of water per plant is consumed. After it has been watered, the soil will settle and it will be necessary to fill in more earth to the brim into the hole, and also to correct the roller from the earth on a new one. If you water the soil on which the plant grows in a timely and moderate manner, then it will develop and grow well.
How to maintain and cultivate the soil where apricot grows
For two years, the place where the plant was planted must be kept under a layer of mulch. If the plant stays under it longer, this will lead to the placement of the root system on the surface. Mulch is possible from the floor of the surplus manure, sawdust or peat. It is necessary to loosen the soil in time and carefully and pull out the weeds.
Apricot seeds are sown in early spring. The soil should be prepared from last year. There shouldn't be any weeds. When the seeds are sown, they must be watered periodically, using sprayers. They are used to ensure that the seedlings are dense and friendly. The grass in these places must be cut down when it grows to a height of twenty centimeters. Using such a system for the care of the soil will increase its fertility. Also, if you use mineral fertilizers, then in this combination the incidence of the plant will decrease, and this will contribute to normal growth and further fruiting. If these conditions are not provided for them, then subsequently the plants will be inhibited and prematurely aging.
Where to plant common apricot
Apricot trees are very fond of light, less demanding on soil conditions. They will grow well in deep and aerated soil where lime is found. The best place to grow them is in the southern directions from Moscow. Areas planted with apricot trees should be protected from cold northerly winds. Low places where cool air collects are not suitable for planting them. You need to choose the sunniest place so that during the summer they can get a lot of warmth and winter well in the future.
Basic rules of care
Apricot plants that grow in the middle lane need to be watered regularly, this is especially required when it is transplanted and when it grows, this is around the period from May to June. In the middle of summer, it must be watered when droughts begin, but in the Moscow region they rarely happen in autumn. If over-watering, this will lead to a long growth of shoots, which do not ripen by winter and freeze slightly.
It is also necessary to whitewash the boles, first add copper sulfate to the whitewashing liquid. Wounds that may be on the tree trunk must be cleaned to living tissue and lubricated with garden varnish.
These plants grow quickly and will yield on average in the sixth year. In order for trees to be well pollinated, you need to have at least two seedlings, and preferably three or four. The crown of the apricot tree is formed naturally.
