Secrets of rose bloom in the right planting and location. Learning together!
In order for the rose to take root safely on your site, the rose bloom was magnificent, and its life cycle persisted for a long time, you should competently approach the choice of the place where it will be most comfortable. What do you need to know for this? We will try to answer this question.
If you choose the right place for a rose to bloom, then it can grow on it up to 10 or even more years. For a flower garden, you should choose a place characterized by an orientation to the south, it is very desirable that it is properly protected from wind currents that can adversely affect adult flowers and cause mechanical damage to them. Groundwater in such a place, if you see plants in the long term, should lie underground at a depth of at least one meter. The most suitable soil is light and loamy, enriched with humus, and the depth of the cultural layer itself is at least 40 centimeters. In the process of digging the soil, it is imperative to add manure, which must be sufficiently decomposed, at the rate of about 4.5 kilograms per 1 square meter, you should also not forget about potash and phosphorus fertilizers and lime.
In open ground, roses are planted, as a rule, in the spring season. Autumn planting is often unsuccessful, since the plants do not have time to root properly in the process and thus can suffer greatly from low temperatures and frosts. However, for example, those seedlings that were grown in the Urals are allowed to be planted in the fall from September 10 to 15, as they are quite resistant to frost due to the local climate. It should be remembered that when planting in spring from the fall season, they must be stored buried in rooms such as basements, cellars, storage facilities or greenhouses. It is recommended to start planting in spring in its early period, as soon as the soil is sufficiently softened. First, you should equip pits with a depth of 30 to 40 centimeters, mainly for free placement of plant roots. In the event that there are mechanically damaged, overdried or rotted parts of the roots and / or branches, they must be removed without fail before the planting process. The above-ground part of the bush should be pruned. The number of eyes that can be left on the shoots is 5-6 pieces in the case of remontant roses and about 2 or 3 pieces for polyanthus, floribunda and hybrid tea groups of varieties. If there are too many buds on the plants, this will negatively affect their firmness and the roses will subsequently weaken. If the soil where it is planned to plant does not contain a sufficient amount of nutrients, additional fertilizers should be applied in the form of a mixture of humus (about one and a half kilograms) and mineral fertilizers (from 15 to 20 grams). In no case should fresh manure be used, as it will become a breeding ground for pathogenic bacteria, and will also increase the risk of decay of the root system several times, which is the cause of the lethal death of any plant.
Standard roses should be planted mainly in spring. Do not forget that they require more careful care than spray ones. When planting such roses, their shoots should be pruned into 2 or 3 outer buds. In order to avoid evaporation of the necessary moisture from the surface, it is recommended to tie the bole together with the crown with matting or moistened moss. After that, the plants should be sprayed with water from a spray bottle. The stem, as a rule, is tied to the stake for greater structural reliability, as well as in order to maintain it in an upright position.
Shrub roses differ in that the place of their grafting should be on average 2 or 3 centimeters below the soil surface. Along the perimeter, the planted bushes must be watered abundantly, then spud with peat or earth by about 15-20 centimeters. This procedure will protect the shoots from drying out in the heat. Already a couple of weeks after the planting process, you can expect the first shoots. In this case, the formed earthen mound along the perimeter of the bush should be gradually removed in cold weather.
There are nuances of sheltering the selected place with plants for the winter. Although many, mainly remontant varieties, are quite frost-resistant, nevertheless, at temperatures below 17 degrees, they still do not withstand the onslaught and die. Polyanthus, hybrid tea and floribunda varieties are more vulnerable to such temperatures. In order not to expose your flowering plants to danger, you should huddle and insulate the place where they are grown for the winter with materials such as peat, sawdust, leaves. There is also a so-called "dry" method, which involves the use of boxes, wooden frames and boards for shelter, which in turn must be additionally insulated from above.
The rose itself is distinguished by some resistance and endurance to many external factors, but this does not mean that you can fully rely on its capabilities and reserves - in any case, the plant needs to be helped to form, develop and bloom, and by winter it is imperative to take care of an elementary level of protection ... Treat your flowering plants properly, both in terms of choosing a place for growing them, the process itself, and their necessary protection, then the rose bloom will soon delight you.
